I draw inspiration for my paintings from the various places I visit across North America and beyond. My fondness for the vast wilderness of Southern and Central Ontario has led me to explore and capture the beauty of areas like the Forks of the Credit River, the Eastern Shores of Georgian Bay, Algonquin Park, Killarney Provincial Park, and the regions around Bancroft and Muskoka.
Although I now live in South Florida, I spend considerable time in Canada, where my family still resides. Born in Toronto, I moved to the Bronte area of Oakville at the age of five and lived there until I was 14. My journey then took me to a private hockey academy near Shelburne, Ontario, leading my family to relocate to the countryside of Bradford, Ontario.
Hailing from a family deeply rooted in hockey—my father played for the Edmonton Oilers and captained the Sudbury Wolves—my brother and I were dedicated to the sport until our early 20s. After a brief Junior hockey career, I attended York University, graduating in 2007.
Post-university, I ventured into the world of online business, teaching myself web development and investing in internet domain names. In 2010, my wife and I honeymooned in France and Thailand. The museums and artworks in France reignited my passion for art, a love I had nurtured since childhood through drawing. This trip inspired me to begin collecting art, particularly works by Canadian artists like David Milne, Tom Thomson, and the Group of Seven.
My interest soon shifted from collecting to creating. Despite starting with little experience, I taught myself to paint, initially focusing on realistic landscapes and wildlife using oil paint. Over time, my style evolved towards abstract and expressionistic forms, characterized by thick paint applications and expressive brush marks.
After a decade of painting, I have developed a unique style reminiscent of the Group of Seven and Tom Thomson. While I occasionally paint wildlife, my work primarily features landscapes, landmarks, and abstract pieces. I enjoy painting both outdoors and in my home studio, with my favorite pieces often being small oil sketches created during my travels.
Outside of painting, I indulge in activities like fishing, fly fishing, hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors.
